CC Resolution No. 2129 - HGACGrant2011 RESOLUTION NO. 2129 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR A FY2011 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN HUNDRED NINETY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTEEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($791,815.00) FOR THE PURCHASE OF EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING TO ENHANCE CURRENT BOMB SQUAD CAPABILITIES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR A FY2011 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($750,000.00) FOR THE PURCHASE OF A SELF-CONTAINED, SIX-CHANNEL, MOBILE, DIGITAL 700/80OMHZ TRUNKED/SIMPLEX RAPID DEPLOYABLE PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM;AUTHORIZING AN IN-KIND MATCH COSTING APPROXIMATELY SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) OR 10% OF THE GRANT AWARD; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON- GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR A FY2011 HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) FOR PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT AWARDS THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council for a FY2011 Homeland Security Grant in the amount of SEVEN HUNDRED NINETY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTEEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($791,815.00) for the purchase of equipment and training to enhance current Bomb Squad capabilities. Section 2: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council for a FY2011 Homeland Security Grant in the amount of SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($750,000.00) for the purchase of a self-contained, six-channel, mobile, digital 700/800MHz trunked/simplex rapid deployable Public Safety Telecommunications system. Section 3: That for the grant application authorized pursuant to Section 2 hereof, the City Council of the City of Baytown commits to provide a broadband Satellite Communications system, programmable VHF and UHF mobile radios, and an independent I.P. Video surveillance system as an in-kind match costing approximately SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) or 10%of the grant award. Section 4: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council for a FY2011 Homeland Security Grant in the amount of SEVENTY-FIVE "THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) for personal protective equipment for the Fire Department. Section S: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for all purposes under the grant. Section G: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or affirm any grant awards that may result from the above application. Section 7: This resolution shall tale effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
