CC Resolution No. 1940 - Amendment to Council Rules & Procedures RESOLUTION NO. 1940
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLE 6 "ORDER OF BUSINESS," SECTION 6.2,
SUBSECTION (E)(111) OF RESOLUTION NO. 1906 ADOPTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, ON DECEMBER 13, 2007,
TO EXCLUDE CITIZENS COMMUNICATIONS FROM THOSE MATTERS ON
WHICH A PERSON DESIRING TO SPEAK TO COUNCIL MAY REGISTER IN
THE HALLWAY BEFORE A COUNCIL MEETING; AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS,Section 27 of the City Charter authorizes the City Council to determine its rules
and order of business; and
WHEREAS, the City Council established rules and procedures for the conduct of council
meetings, which are set forth in Resolution No. 1906, adopted on the 131h day of December, 2007;
and
WHEREAS,the City Council desires to amend the rules to amend the submission deadline of
a citizen communication;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That Article 6 "Order of Business," Section 6.2, Subsection (e)(III) of
Resolution No. 1906 adopted by the City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas,on December 13,
2007, is hereby amended to read as follows:
6. ORDER OF BUSINESS
6.2 The order for the Agenda is as follows:
(e) Citizen Communications.
III. To provide an efficient and orderly process to handle citizen
communications and to provide notice to the public of each item to be
discussed during the Council meeting, each citizen desiring to speak
will be asked to complete a citizen communication form to be
provided by the City Clerk. The form will provide a space for the
individual's name, address, telephone number, date of requested
appearance, reasons for request to appear before Council and
requested action of Council. The form must be submitted no later
than 170 hours prior to the time and date that the meeting is
scheduled.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
