CC Resolution No. 1868 RESOLUTION NO. 1868
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, GRANTING THE CITY'S CONSENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION,
IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN ROADS AND THE
ACQUISITION OF ADDITIONAL RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR SUCH ROADS
WITHIN THE CITY OF BAYTOWN BY HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, certain roads located within the incorporated boundaries of the City of
Baytown are in need of construction, improvement and maintenance; and
WHEREAS, such roads have historically been improved and maintained by Harris
County and have been carried on the Harris County Road Log; and
WHEREAS, such roads include the following:
Thompson Road from 100 feet north of S.H. 330 to 800 feet north
of Ellis School Road
and
WHEREAS, such construction, improvement and maintenance benefits the residents of
the City of Baytown and Harris County and serves the transportation needs of the traveling
public; and
WHEREAS, the City Charter provides the City of Baytown with exclusive dominion,
control and jurisdiction in, upon, over and under the public streets, avenues, alleys and highways
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the consent of the City has been requested to avoid jurisdictional conflicts
and to provide coordination between the departments of the City and County; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: The findings of the City Council of the City of Baytown contained in the
recitals of this resolution are hereby adopted and approved.
Section 2: The City of Baytown consents to the location, alignment, construction,
and maintenance by Harris County of the roads described above.
Section 3: The City of Baytown consents to the acquisition of such additional right-
of-way for such roads by Harris County as Harris County may find necessary and convenient,
including, but not limited to, acquisition by purchase, donation or condemnation.

Section 4: The City of Baytown acknowledges that Harris County has concurrent
jurisdiction with the City of Baytown with respect to those roads described herein.
Section 5: All officials, employees and departments of the City of Baytown are
authorized to take such actions as may be necessary to accomplish the purposes of this
resolution.
Section 6: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
