RESOLUTION NO. 1832
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT
FROM THE TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT'S TEXAS
RECREATIONAL TRAIL PROGRAM FUND FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE
MILE OF NEW DECOMPOSED GRANITE TRAILS AND RELATED
IMPROVEMENTS IN THE BAYTOWN NATURE CENTER IN AN AMOUNT
OF SIXTY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE AND
NO/100 DOLLARS ($61,879.00); AUTHORIZING AN IN-KIND MATCH OF
FIFTEEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY AND NO/100
DOLLARS ($15,470.00); AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Recreational Trails Program
administers the Texas Recreational Trails Fund, which awards reimbursement-type grants to
eligible public entities and private organizations to be used on trails and trail-related projects;
and
WHEREAS, the City submitted a project entailing the construction of approximately one
mile of new decomposed granite trails and related improvements in the Baytown Nature Center
(the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has been notified that the Houston-Galveston Area
Council will award a grant to the City of Baytown to reimburse the City up to SIXTY-ONE
THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($61,879.00) for
the Project; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN.
TEXAS:
Section l: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, authorizes and
directs the City Manager to accept a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's
Texas Recreational Trail Program Fund for approximately one mile of new decomposed granite
trails and related improvements in the Baytown Nature Center in an amount of SIXTY-ONE
THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($61,879.00).
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, authorizes an in-kind
match of FIFTEEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED SEVENTY AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($15A70.00) in accordance with the grant award referenced in Section I hereinabove.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
