RESOLUTION NO. 1808
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT
INTERSTATE 10 AND THOMPSON ROAD BY THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation ("TxDOT") has conducted a signal
warrant analysis regarding the intersection of Interstate 10 and Thompson Road and has
determined that a traffic signal is warranted; and
WHEREAS, since this intersection is within the corporate limits of the City of Baytown,
TxDOT has requested that the City approve such installation with the understanding that the City
will ultimately take over the maintenance of the signal once the installation is complete; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT plans a "temporary" installation of the warranted traffic signal in
the next 60 to 90 days that will remain in operation until the Harris County Thompson Road
project is complete; and
WHEREAS, upon completion of the Thompson Road Project, TxDOT will then proceed
with the "permanent" installation of the traffic signal; and
WHEREAS, upon completion of the "permanent" installation of the traffic signal at the
above-referenced intersection, TxDOT will submit an amendment to the master agreement
between TxDOT and the City regarding the maintenance of the traffic signal, which shall be
consistent with the agreement that is currently in effect; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT has requested the City's written approval of the proposed traffic
signal installation before TxDOT proceeds with funding, plan preparation, and construction;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That all matters and facts set forth in the recitals hereinabove are found to
be true and are approved by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby approves the
installation of the traffic signal at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Thompson Road, Baytown,
Texas, by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
