RESOLUTION NO. 1807
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON - GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR
ELIGIBLE IMPROVEMENTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DOWNTOWN
PUBLIC SPACES IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF
TWENTY -FIVE THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($25,000.00);
AUTHORIZING MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF TWENTY -FIVE
THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($25,000.00); AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Houston - Galveston Area Council ( "H -GAC ") offers a grant program
known as the Downtown Public Spaces Improvements Program, which makes funding available
to improve public spaces in the downtown areas of communities in the thirteen (13) county H-
GAC region (the Program "); and.
WHEREAS, the Program benefits the region by assisting communities in making
downtown areas more attractive and by increasing the local economic vitality, sales tax and
property values, while preserving and enhancing their architectural and cultural history; and
WHEREAS, under the Program, H -GAC offers a maximum of TWENTY -FIVE
THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($25,000.00) to its grant recipients for qualifying
projects; provided, the grant recipient authorizes a local cash match equal to the grant award;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That all matters and facts set forth in the recitals hereinabove are found to
be true and are approved by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown authorizes and directs the
City Manager of the City of Baytown to submit a grant application to the Houston - Galveston
Area Council for eligible improvements in accordance with the Downtown Public Spaces
Improvements Program in the amount of TWENTY -FIVE THOUSAND AND NO /100
DOLLARS ($25,000.00); and authorizes a local cash match equal to the grant award.
Section 3: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized
representative for all purposes under the grant, including the acceptance, affirmation, rejection or
alteration of any grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
