CC Resolution No. 1805 66 RESOLUTION NO. 1805 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT SUB- RECIPIENT AWARDS GRANTS FUNDED BY THE 2005 UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT FROM THE DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF TEXAS IN THE AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($200,000.00); FOR THE PURCHASE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EQUIPMENT BY THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AND CHAMBERS COUNTY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the Division of Emergency Management Office of the Governor of the State of Texas for the 2005 United States Department of Homeland Security has considered the application of the City of Baytown and Chambers County for a grant to purchase law enforcement equipment; and WHEREAS, the Division of Emergency Management Office of the Governor of the State of Texas for the 2005 United States Department of Homeland Security has awarded the City of Baytown the sum of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($174,573.00) and Chambers County the sum of TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($25,427.00) for a total grant in the sum of TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($200,000.00); and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is the regional receiver of the Sub-Recipient Awards Grants awarded to the City of Baytown and Chambers County; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown finds it in the best interest of the citizens of Baytown that Sub-Recipient Awards Grants funded by the 2005 United States Department of Homeland Security Grant be accepted from the Division of Emergency Management Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, in the amount of TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($200,000.00) to be used for the purchase of law enforcement equipment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Sub-Recipient Awards Grants, the City of Baytown will receive the sum of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($174,573.00), and Chambers County will receive the sum of TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($25,427.00); NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That all matters and facts set forth in the recitals hereinabove are found to be true and are approved by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas. 67 Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, authorizes the City Manager to accept the Sub-Recipient Awards Grants funded by the 2005 United States Department of Homeland Security Grant from the Division of Emergency Management Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, in the amount of TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($200,000.00) for the purchase of law enforcement equipment. Of the total grant award, the City of Baytown will receive the sum of ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($174,573.00) and Chambers County will receive the remainder, which is TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($25,427.00). Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
