CC Resolution No. 1658 so RESOLUTION NO. 1658 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, REVOKING THE CHOICE MADE VIA RESOLUTION NO. 785 ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 10, 1981, TO PARTICIPATE IN A SINGLE APPRAISAL DISTRICT; SELECTING THE CHAMBERS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT AS THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT FOR ALL PROPERTIES IN THE CHAMBERS COUNTY PORTION OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN AND THE HARRIS COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICT AS THE APPRAISAL DISTRICT FOR ALL PROPERTIES IN THE HARRIS COUNTY PORTION OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, Section 6.02 of the Texas Tax Code allows taxing units having boundaries extending into two or more counties to choose to participate in a single appraisal district; and WHEREAS on September 10, 1981, the City Council found that the citizens of Baytown would benefit from participating in a single appraisal district, namely the Harris County Appraisal District, since the greatest number of taxable properties were located in Harris County and by participating in such district the city would receive the greatest benefit; and WHEREAS, on September 10, 1981, via Resolution No. 785, the City Council elected to participate in the Harris County Appraisal District as of January 1, 1982, in accordance with the Texas Tax Code. WHEREAS, the City Council now finds that the property located within the City of Baytown should be appraised by the appraisal district of the county in which the property is located;NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby revokes the choice made via Resolution No. 785 adopted on September 10, 1981,to participate in a single appraisal district. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby selects the Chambers County Appraisal District as the appraisal district for all properties in the Chambers County portion of the City of Baytown and the Harris County Appraisal District as the appraisal district for all properties in the Harris County portion of the City of Baytown. Section 3: That the selection made in Section 2 hereof shall be effective as of January 1,2005. Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
