RESOLUTION NO. 1571
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
APPROVING A DESIGN ALTERNATIVE FOR THE REALIGNMENT OF
RACCOON DRIVE THROUGH THE EXISTING "S' CURVE LOCATED JUST
NORTH OF MASSEY-TOMPKINS ROAD; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown (the"City") and Harris County (the"County")have determined
that it is beneficial to the health, safety and welfare of the public to realign Raccoon Drive through the
existing"S' curve located just north of Massey-Tompkins Road(the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Project will be a joint effort of the City and the County, where the County shall
be the lead agency; and
WHEREAS, the County has employed SCL Engineering as the design professional for the
Project; and
WHEREAS, SCL Engineering has provided both Harris County and the City of Baytown with
four separate alternatives for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed all plan alternatives provided and has chosen the plan
alternative believed to be in the best interest to the health, safety and welfare of the public; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby approves the design
alternative, which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein for all intents and purposes,
for the realignment of Raccoon Drive through the existing "S' curve located just north of Massey-
Tompkins Road.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED, by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of
Baytown this the 27ffi day of February, 2003.
