RESOLUTION NO. 1568
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO APPLY FOR A GRANT TO THE OFFICE OF THE
GOVERNOR, CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, BYRNE FUNDED GRANT
PROGRAM IN CONNECTION WITH THE HARRIS COUNTY ORGANIZED
CRIME AND NARCOTICS TASK FORCE; AUTHORIZING THE
REPRESENTATIVE TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, ALTER OR TERMINATE
ANY GRANT AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; COMMITTING
TO PROVIDE THE REQUISITE MATCH FUNDS; AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown finds it in the best interest of the
citizens of Baytown that the Harris County Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force
("HCOCNTF")be operated for the 14`h year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown has considered the proposed
application for state and federal assistance for HCOCNTF, in the amount of THREE MILLION
TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED NINETY-ONE AND
NO/100 DOLLARS ($3,238,391.00), to be submitted to the Byrne Funded Grant Program,
Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is committed to providing all applicable cash
match with funds available through generated program income; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the
THREE MILLION TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED
NINETY-ONE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($3,238,391.00) in the Criminal Justice Division
Funds, the City of Baytown assures that the funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice
Division in full; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section l: That all matters and facts set forth in the recitals hereinabove are found to
be true, and are approved as such by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby approves submission
of the grant application for the HCOCNTF to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice
Division, Byrne Funded Grant Program in the amount of THREE MILLION TWO HUNDRED
THIRTY-EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED NINETY-ONE AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($3,238,391.00).
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby designated as the
authorized representative for all purposes under the grant.

Section 4: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
apply for and to accept or affirm any grant award that may result from the above application and
is further authorized to alter or terminate any resulting grant award.
Section 5: That the City of Baytown will provide for the applicable matching funds
under the grant, which is ONE MILLION ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE THOUSAND
THREE HUNDRED THIRTY AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($1,185,330.00), through available
generated program income.
Section 6: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED, by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the
City of Baytown this the 23`d day of January, 2003.
