CC Resolution No. 1537 13 RESOLUTION NO. J 537 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR THE 2002 FIRE ACT GRANT; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AUTHORIZING MATCHING FUNDS TOTALING ELEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX AND 21/100 DOLLARS ($11,136.21); AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City of Baytown (the "City"), desires to make application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the 2002 Fire Act Grant to acquire personal protective equipment necessary to enter accident sites to rescue victims of hazardous materials transportation incidents; and WHEREAS,the grant requires that the City provide matching funds of thirty percent(30%) of the grant amount, which match totals ELEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX AND 21/100 DOLLARS ($11,136.21); and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to acquire personal protective equipment, including,but not limited to, Level A and B Hazmat suits, gloves, tape, and boots as well as air paks and cylinders; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make application to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the 2002 Fire Act Grant in the amount of TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR AND 48/100 DOLLARS ($25,984.48). Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for all purposes under the grant. Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or affirm any grant award that may result from the above applications. Section 4: That the City's matching funds in the amount of ELEVEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-SIX AND 21/100 DOLLARS ($11,136.21)are hereby authorized. Section 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
