RESOLUTION NO. 1512
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE BAYTOWN ELDERLY AND DISABLED
PARA-TRANSIT SERVICE PROGRAM SPONSORED BY THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, Texas Department of Transportation ("TxDOT") has allocated $160,000,
funded out of the state's 5310 grant, to provide transportation services for the elderly and
disabled in the Baytown area; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT issued a request for proposals to transportation providers to perform
these transportation services; and
WHEREAS, based upon the proposals submitted, TxDOT has selected the American Red
Cross and Mustard Seed Ministries to provide the desired services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the agreement between TxDOT and the American Red Cross,
the American Red Cross will provide transportation services from various origination points to
local medical facilities, shopping centers, and senior centers; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the agreement between TxDOT and Mustard Seed Ministries,
Mustard Seed Ministries will provide transportation services to and from the Houston Medical
Center; and
WHEREAS, both the American Red Cross and Mustard Seed Ministries will offer the
contracted services three (3) days per week; and
WHEREAS, TxDOT plans on initiating its transportation program pursuant to these
contracts in the Baytown area on October 1, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, desires to register its
support of the Baytown Elderly and Disabled Para-Transit Service Program sponsored by the
Texas Department of Transportation;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby endorses and
registers its support of the Baytown Elderly and Disabled Para-Transit Service Program
sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
