RESOLUTION NO. 1482
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
SUPPORTING A REDISTRICTING PLAN THAT WILL PLACE THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN IN A MINIMUM NUMBER OF U.S. CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, as a result of the 1990 redistricting plans the City of Baytown was placed in two
different U.S. Congressional Districts; and
WHEREAS, in placing the City of Baytown in various different U.S. Congressional Districts,
geographically distorted districts were created; and
WHEREAS, the creation of geographically distorted districts in Baytown fosters voter confusion;
and
WHEREAS, although the City of Baytown has been well served by its current elected
Representatives in each of these districts, it is desired by the citizens of the City of Baytown to be served
by a minimum number of U.S. Congressional Districts; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby supports a
redistricting plan that places the City of Baytown in a minimum number of U.S. Congressional Districts,
thus benefiting the entire citizenry of the City of Baytown.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of
Baytown, Texas, this the 5" day of April, 2001.
