CC Resolution No. 1462 2744 RESOLUTION NO. 1462 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDING UNDER A FEDERAL GRANT FROM THE OFFICE OF NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL POLICY FOR THE COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT PERTAINING TO THE HOUSTON HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA GRANT PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. *�:��*.��».*r***e+•s**r*�r*******+��*r***r****r�rr�*:*r*■r*******r****+s+�t***+*:::** WHEREAS, in January 1999, Council authorized the City Manager to apply for a grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy ("ONDCP") for the Cooperative Agreement pertaining to the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant Program ("HIDTA") in the amount of SIX HUNDRED FOUR THOUSAND SEVENTY-ONE AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($604,071.00); and WHEREAS, the ONDCP has reallocated excess funds to local High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant Programs; and WHEREAS, the additional amount appropriated by the ONDCP for the Houston HIDTA increases the original grant amount by SIXTY-SEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FOURTEEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($67,214.00); and WHEREAS, the additional funds will be used by Houston HIDTA to fund a new position, ONDCP approved salary adjustments, operating expenses, and equipment for the airport narcotics interdiction efforts at Bush International Airport and the Port of Houston; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown, being the agent for the federal grant, desires to accept the additional grant funds for the purposes herein stated;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept additional funding under a federal grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy for the Cooperative Agreement pertaining to the Houston High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Grant Program in the amount of SIXTY-SEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FOURTEEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($67,214.00). Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
