CC Resolution No. 1459 2739 RESOLUTION NO. 1459 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1448 CONCERNING THE 2000-01 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT AWARD TO THE BAY AREA WOMEN'S CENTER; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council in Resolution No. 1448 approved funding for SEVENTY- FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($75,000.00) for the Bay Area Women's Center (`BAWC") to be used for partial acquisition costs for a structure to replace their thrift store; and WHEREAS, BAWC has determined that new construction of a thrift store is a more financially feasible option than purchasing, repairing and/or altering an existing building for such purposes; and WHEREAS, BAWC has requested that the monies awarded for the acquisition of an existing structure be allowed to be used for the construction of a new structure and that 24 months be allowed for completion of construction; and WHEREAS, the Community Development Advisory Committee has considered BAWC's request and recommends the same to the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has also reviewed and considered BAWC's request and determines that such request should be granted;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby declares that the above-referenced recitals are true and correct findings of the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas. Section 2: The City of Baytown, Texas, hereby amends Resolution No. 1448 adopted on July 13, 2000, so that Exhibit "A" of the same as it pertains to the Bay Area Women's Center state as follows: 1999-2000 2000-01 BUDGET BUDGET Bay Area Women's Center Funds to be used for partial $g 570 $75,000 acquisition/construction costs of a structure to replace the BAWC thrift store. 2740 Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
