RESOLUTION NO. 1435
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION OF THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT
OF PUBLIC SAFETY THROUGH THE HURRICANE PROPERTY
PROTECTION MITIGATION PROGRAM FOR THE PURCHASE OF
MATERIALS RELATING TO PROPERTY PROTECTION OF THE
EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown (the "City"), in accordance with the applicable state
regulations, has designated the Baytown Office of Emergency Management (`OEM") to mitigate
the effects of natural hazards such as hurricanes within the City; and
WHEREAS, the OEM has applied to the Emergency Management Division of the Texas
Department of Public Safety (the "State") for grant funds up to TWENTY THOUSAND AND
NO/100 DOLLARS ($20,000.00) to purchase materials relating to property protection of the
Emergency Operations Center within the City (the"Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hurricane Program's Hurricane
Property Protection Mitigation Program, through the State, includes funding for the implementation
of appropriate hurricane mitigation measures accomplished by local coastal governments; and
WHEREAS, if awarded the grant, the State will reimburse the City of Baytown for
documented expenses for the Project up to a maximum amount of TWENTY THOUSAND AND
NO/100 DOLLARS ($20,000.00);NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby approves submission of
the grant application to the Emergency Management Division of the Texas Department of Public
Safety for the purchase of materials relating to property protection of the Emergency Operations
Center in the amount of TWENTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($20,000.00).
Section 2: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby designated as the
authorized representative for all purposes under the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept
or affirm any grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
