CC Resolution No. 14122672 RESOLUTION NO.1412 AW A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS, INCREASING THE CITY MANAGER'S CHANGE ORDER AUTHORITY FROM FIFTEEN THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS($15,000.00)TO TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS($25,000.00)AS DESIGNATED IN THE ORDINANCES AUTHORIZING CONTRACTS COMPETITIVELY BID IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 252 OF THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE:AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. ******************************************************************************************** WHEREAS,the City of Baytown is committed to providing opportunities for competition before making any purchase or contract for supplies,materials,equipment or contractual services in accordance with Chapter 252 of the Texas Local Government Code;and WHEREAS,such chapter recognizes not only that changes in plans or specifications may be necessary after the performance of a contract has begun but also that it may become necessary to decrease or increase the quantity of work to be performed or of materials,equipment or supplies to be furnished;and WHEREAS.Section 252.048 of the Texas Local Government Code permits the City Council to grant general authority to an administrative official of the City of Baytown to approve change orders,stemming from the above-referenced matters,which either increases or decreases the original contract price by no more than TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS($25.000.00):and WHEREAS,to more efficiently and effectively administer contracts let pursuant to provisions of Chapter 252 of the Texas Local Government Code,the City Council desires to increase the authority given to the City Manager in approving change orders from FIFTEEN THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS($15,000.00)to TWENTY-FIVE AND NO/100 DOLLARS($25.000/00);NOW THEREFORE, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS; Section 1:That the City Council of the City of Baytown.Texas.hereby grants the City Manager the authority to approve change orders.when so indicated in an ordinance authorizing a contract let pursuant to Chapter 252 of the Texas Local Government Code,which either increases or decreases the original contract price by no more than TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS($25.000.00). Section 2:This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.Texas.
