RESOLUTION NO. 1.374
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT
OF NINETY-NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTEEN AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($99,418.00) FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE; DESIGNATING
AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING CREATION OF AN ADVISORY
BOARD; PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING; AUTHORIZING A CASH MATCH OF
ELEVEN THOUSAND FORTY-SIX AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($11,046.00); AND PROVIDING
FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept a Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant, Number 98LBVX3198 in the amount of NINETY-NINE THOUSAND FOUR
HUNDRED EIGHTEEN and NO/100 DOLLARS ($99,418.00) from the United States Department of Justice for
reduction of crime and improvement of public safety.
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for all
purposes under the grant and is authorized to execute all documents in connection with the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make all reports and
assure compliance with all special conditions of the grant.
Section 4: That the City's snatch in the amount of ELEVEN THOUSAND FORTY-SIX and NO/100
DOLLARS ($I 1,046.00) is hereby authorized.
Section 5: That there is hereby created an advisory board, to include a representative from the local
police department or local sheriff's department, the local prosecutor's office, the local court system, the local
public school system, and a local nonprofit, educational, religious or community group active in crime prevention
or drug use prevention or treatment, and any other representatives deemed appropriate by City Council.
Section 6: That said board is hereby ordered to hold a public hearing regarding the proposed use of
the funds awarded under the grant.
Section 7: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City
Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of Baytown
