RESOLUTION NO. 1363
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS TELECOMMUNICATIONS
INFRASTRUCTURE FUND BOARD TO ENHANCE PUBLIC INTERNET ACCESS AT
THE STERLING MUNICIPAL LIBRARY; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM
ANY GRANT AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, in 1995, the Legislature of the State of Texas created the Texas Telecommunications
Infrastructure Fund and its Board to assist in the development of telecommunication infrastructure that connects
certain public entities to Texas's emerging statewide telecommunications network; and
WHEREAS, to continue to meet the public demand for its library services, the City of Baytown
desires to upgrade its existing library computers which are linked to the Internet, to increase adult and child
access to the Internet, to improve the quality of printed material obtained from its public access computers, and
to add a computer to be dedicated for bibliographic maintenance of the library's database;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make application to
the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board for a grant to enhance public Internet access at the
Sterling Municipal Library in the amount of SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS
($75,000.00).
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for all purposes
under the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or affirm any
grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council
of the City of Baytown.
