CC Resolution No. 1357 2589 RESOLUTION NO. 1357 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, EXPRESSING SUPPORT OF CITY EFFORTS IN THE AREAS OF HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE DAY, CODE ENFORCEMENT, BRUSH AND LIMB COLLECTION, BAGGED YARD WASTE COLLECTION, AND CHIPPING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE PRODUCTS OF THESE PROCESSES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION GRANT FUNDING; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING A REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, waste reduction efforts conserve limited natural resources and help minimize air and water pollution; and WHEREAS, overall operating costs for landfills continue to rise; and WHEREAS, waste reduction efforts help conserve landfill space; and WHEREAS, building new landfills is expensive, and often conflicts with residential, agricultural, and other land uses; and WHEREAS, less waste generally equates to greater efficiency from the economic standpoint of the City;NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, supports efforts in the areas of Hazardous Household Waste Day, Code Enforcement, brush and limb collection, bagged yard waste collection, and chipping and distribution of the products of these processes. Section 2: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby authorized to make application to the Houston-Galveston Area Council for Solid Waste Management Implementation grant funding in the amount of ONE HUNDRED FORTY-TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($142,486.00) Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby designated as the authorized representative of the City of Baytown, Texas, for all purposes under the grant. Section 4: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby authorized to accept or affirm any grant award that may result from the above application. 2590 Section 5: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
