RESOLUTION NO. 1349
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, THAT THE BAYLAND PARK BOAT RAMPS LOCATED AT 2641
SOUTH HIGHWAY 146 BE NAMED IN HONOR OF FORMER FIRE CHIEF
V.H. 'BUDDY" McBRIDE; THAT A SIGN IN HONOR OF MR. McBRIDE BE
PLACED IN A PROMINENT LOCATION AT SAID BOAT RAMPS; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE, EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, Mr. V.H. 'Buddy" McBride was a member of the Baytown Fire Department for
36 years, from December 10, 1956, until January 31, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Mr. V. H. 'Buddy' McBride served as Fire Chief for 16 years, from March 26,
1976, until January 31, 1992; and
WHEREAS, Mr. V.H. 'Buddy" McBride tirelessly supported the Baytown Youth Fair and
Rodeo, the Salt Water Anglers League of Texas, the Gulf Coast Conservation Association, the
Baytown Boat Club and various little league associations and schools; and
WHEREAS, Mr. V.H. 'Buddy' McBride was an accomplished cook and used his talents to
provide an annual cookout for Cedar Bayou Junior School, veterans organizations and many other
groups; and
WHEREAS, Mr. V.H. 'Buddy" McBride dedicated his life to serving the citizens of
Baytown; and
WHEREAS, naming the boat ramps located at 2641 South Highway 146 the VH. 'Buddy"
McBride Boat Ramps in honor of Mr. McBride would be an appropriate gesture to honor the
community endeavors of Mr. V.H. 'Buddy" McBride;NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the boat ramps located at 2641 South Highway 146 are hereby named
the V.H. 'Buddy"McBride Boat Ramps in honor of the selfless community service of Mr. V.H.
'Buddy' McBride to the citizens of the City of Baytown.
Section 2: That a sign naming the boat ramps in honor of Mr. McBride shall be placed
in a prominent location at said boat ramps.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown.
