RESOLUTION NO. 1336
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT
OF NINETY -FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY -FIVE AND
NO /100 DOLLARS ($94,525.00) FROM THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING CREATION OF AN ADVISORY
BOARD; PROVIDING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING; AUTHORIZING A CASH
MATCH OF TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED THREE AND NO /100
DOLLARS ($10,503.00); AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
accept Local Law Enforcement Block Grant No. 97LBVX3198 in the amount of NINETY -
FOUR- THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY -FIVE and NO /100 DOLLARS ($94,525.00)
from the United States Department of Justice for reduction of crime and improvement of public
safety.
Section 2: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized
representative for all purposes under the grant and is authorized to execute all documents in
connection with the grant.
Section 3: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to
make all reports and assure compliance with all special conditions of the grant.
Section 4: That the City's match in the amount of TEN THOUSAND FIVE
HUNDRED THREE and NO/ DOLLARS ($10,503.00) is hereby authorized.
Section 5: That there is hereby created an advisory board, to include a representative
from the local police department or local sheriff's department, the local prosecutor's office, the
local court system, the local public school system, and a local nonprofit, educational, religious or
community group active in crime prevention or drug use prevention or treatment, and any other
representatives deemed appropriate by City Council.
Section 6: That said board is hereby ordered to hold a public hearing regarding the
proposed use of the funds awarded under the grant.
Section 7: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by
the City Council of the City of Baytown.
