A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
ADOPTING A FLAG FOR THE CITY OF BAYTOWN'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS,on January 24, 1948, the citizens of the area known as Pelly, Baytown and Goose Creek
approved the charter officially incorporating and naming the consolidated cities the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS,the year 1998 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the City of Baytown; and
WHEREAS,to honor such event, the Patriotism Area of the Pilot Club of Baytown, Inc. (the "Pilot
Club") sponsored a flag contest wherein participants were asked to design a flag; and
WHEREAS, after carefully considering 71 different entries, a panel of judges skilled in art and/or
knowledgeable in the City of Baytown's history, unanimously selected the flag designed by Mr. Charles Fall
as the winning entry; and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Baytown desires to adopt the winning entry of Mr. Fall
as the flag for the City of Baytown's 50th Anniversary Celebration;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown,Texas, hereby adopts the flag designed
by Mr. Charles Fall as depicted in Exhibit"A,"which is attached hereto and incorporated herein for all intents
and purposes, as the official flag for the City of Baytown's 50th Anniversary Celebration.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City
Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED, by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of
Baytown this the 9th day of October, 1997.
