RESOLUTION NO. 1313
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, OPPOSING THE PROPOSED CONSTRUTION AND OPERATION OF
CEDAR POINT INDUSTRIAL LANDFILL; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has been working diligently to improve its image and
quality of life within Baytown by effectively managing development both within the City's
incorporated limits as well as in its extraterritorial jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, City of Baytown is supportive of industrial growth and economic development
within its jurisdiction, and continues to implement and support programs that further such goal; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown cooperatively works with the Economic Development
Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce to promote Baytown as a good place to live and do
business; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown perceives the construction and operation of the proposed
Cedar Point Industrial Landfill undermines the City's efforts over the past years to promote
Baytown; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown wishes to voice its opposition to the
proposed landfill, for it is reasonably believed that the proposed landfill will (i) detrimentally effect
and negatively change the landscape of the entire area; (ii) routinely emit foul odors impacting the
citizens residing and working in the southeast portion of Baytown; (iii) create undue traffic and
safety hazards due to large trucks hauling industrial waste through the City at a rate of approximately
one hundred thirty (130) trucks per day; and/or (iv) entice similar facilities to locate in the
surrounding area, thus, compounding the above-referenced concerns;NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby opposes the
proposed construction and operation of Cedar Point Industrial Landfill, for those reasons enumerated
in the recitals hereinabove.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown. Texas, believes that permitting
the Cedar Point Industrial Landfill as proposed is detrimental to the residents of the City of Baytown,
Texas.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas.

INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the City of
