RESOLUTION NO. 1274
A RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 1272 PASSED ON
FEBRUARY 22,1996; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR
FUNDING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF TWO MILES OF BICYCLE - PEDESTRIAN
TRAIL CONNECTING PHASE I OF THE GOOSE CREEK STREAM TO THE
CENTRAL LITTLE LEAGUE PARK, THE DECKER POND AREA, AND
GARTH ROAD VIA LOOP 201, AND FUNDING FOR CONCRETE PAVING OF
3/4 MILE OF THE PHASE I TRAIL AND LANDSCAPING OF THE DECKER
POND AREA; DESIGNATING AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE;
AUTHORIZING REPRESENTATIVE TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY GRANT
AWARD THAT MAY RESULT THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has established a Statewide
Transportation Enhancement Program for various projects including facilities for pedestrians and
bicycles; acquisition of scenic easements and scenic sites and landscaping and other scenic
beautification projects; and
WHEREAS, the construction of two miles of bicycle - pedestrian trail connecting Phase I of
the Goose Creek Stream to the Central Little League Park, the Decker Pond area, and Garth Road
via Loop 201, and concrete paving of 3/4 mile of the Phase I trail and landscaping of the Decker
Pond area is integral to the City's comprehensive revitalization plan and conforms to the program
guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is eligible for such funds and desires to apply for funding;
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby repeals Resolution
No. 1272 passed on February 22, 1996.
Section 2: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to make
application to the Texas Department of Transportation Enhancement Program for funding for the
Goose Creek Stream project as hereinabove described in the amount of SEVEN HUNDRED
EIGHTY -NINE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($789.700.00).
Section 3: That the City Council of the City of Baytown approves the proposed twenty
percent (20 %) local matching funds of ONE HUNDRED NINETY -NINE THOUSAND, SEVEN
HUNDRED AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($199,700.00) and attests a commitment to the project's
ongoing maintenance.

Section 4: That the City Manager is hereby designated as the authorized representative for
all purposes under the grant.
Section 5: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is hereby authorized to accept or
affirm any grant award that may result from the above application.
Section 6: This resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City
Council of the City of Baytown.
