RESOLUTION NO. 1195
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM FOR
FUNDING FOR VARIOUS PROJECTS INTEGRAL TO THE CITY'S
COMPREHENSIVE REVITALIZATION PLAN; DESIGNATING AN
AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE; AUTHORIZING THE REPRESENTATIVE
TO ACCEPT OR AFFIRM ANY FUNDING AWARD THAT MAY RESULT
THEREFROM; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has
established a Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program for
various projects including facilities for pedestrians and bicycles;
acquisition of scenic easements and scenic sites; and landscaping
and other scenic beautification projects; and
WHEREAS, the construction of 2 .5 miles of bicycle-pedestrian
trail along the Goose Creek stream, landscaping of the SH 146
corridor from the Fred Hartman Bridge to the SH 146 bridge over
Goose Creek, acquisition of a site for a visitor's center, studies
of the archaeological and historical resources associated with the
lower reaches of the corridor, and removal of outdoor advertising
signs along the corridor are integral to the City's comprehensive
revitalization plan and conform to the program guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown is eligible for such funds and
desires to apply for funding for the above mentioned projects; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is
hereby authorized to make application to the Texas Department of
Transportation Enhancement Program for funding for various projects
integral to the City's comprehensive revitalization plan in amounts
as follows:

Trail & Related Construction: $ 525, 000
Trail Engineering/Design: $ 50, 000
Land Acquisition: $ 665, 500
Beautification/Landscaping: $ 114 , 000
Archaeological & Historical Research: $ 50, 000
Total Project Cost: $1,404, 500
Texas DOT Enchancement Funding: $1, 123 , 600
Value of Land Donations: $ 115, 000
City of Baytown 1991 Bond Program: $ 165, 900
Total Project Funding: $1,404,500

Section 2 : That the City Manager is hereby designated as the
authorized representative for all purposes under the grant.
Section 3 : That the City Manager of the City of Baytown is
hereby authorized to accept or affirm any grant award that may
result from the above application.
Section 4 : This resolution shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
