RESOLUTION NO. 1141
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, APPROVING THE PROJECTS CONTAINED IN THE
SUBMISSION OF BAY AREA WOMEN'S CENTER TO THE TEXAS
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR A TEXAS EMERGENCY
SHELTER GRANT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Women's Center ( "Women's Center ")
seeks Emergency Shelter Grant Program Funds ( "Program Funds ")
from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs
( "Department ") for the purpose of providing essential services to
the residents of the Emergency Shelter operated by the Women's
Center ( "Shelter "); and
WHEREAS, the Department requires that all private nonprofit
proposals for Program Funds ( "proposals ") contain documentation
to the effect that said nonprofit organization has requested the
Chief Elected Official (or their designee) of the City or County
in which the project will be located to assist the Department
with the Environmental Review Checklist ( "Checklist "); and
WHEREAS, the Department also requires that all proposals
also contain a Certification of Local Government approval
certifying that the local governmental in which the proposed
activity is located approves the project; and
WHEREAS, the Shelter provides a useful and valuable public
service which benefits the citizens of the City of Baytown; NOW
THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the Mayor of the City of Baytown or his
designated representative should assist the Department in
completing the Checklist to the satisfaction of the Department in
order to assist the Women's Center in obtaining Program Funds for
the Shelter.
Section 2: That the Mayor of the City of Baytown should
execute the Certification of Local Government approval on behalf
of the City of Baytown in order to assist the Women's Center in
obtaining Program Funds for the Shelter.
Section 3: This resolution shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 27th day of
February, 1992.
