AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS. AUTIORIZING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 WITH HASSELL
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY. INC., FOR THE FIRE STATION NO. 6
PROJECT, AUTHORIZING PAYMENT BY THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED NINETY-FOUR. THOUSAND
NINE HUNDRED FOUR AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($194,904.00); AND
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council does hereby authorize Change Order No. 1 with Hassell
Construction Company, Inc.. for the Fire Station No. 6 Project. A copy of said change order is
attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A" and made apart hereof for all intents and purposes.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby authorizes the payment
of an amount not to exceed ONE HUNDRED NINETY -FOUR THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED
FOUR AND NO /I 00 DOLLARS ($194,90=1.00) to Hassell Construction Company, Inc., for Change
Order No. I for the Fire Station No. 6 Project.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Council of the City of Baytown. ,

This Change Order Is created to have Hassell Construction Co., Inc. perform the following work that is outside of
the current contract: CPR#03 W Worst Case(Guaranteed Max.) is necessary due to the unexpected soil
conditions encountered during pier - drilling operations. This Change Order reduces the depth of the bell
footings and allows for a worst case scenario, given the existing soil conditions. Every effort will be made to
drill and place the concrete piers according to revised drawings, provided by the Architect of record, which
represents the most cost effective alternative. However, given the soil conditions, the alternative solution
representing the worst -case scenario may be implemented, partially or entirely. The final cost will be In between
the best and worst case scenarios depending on the number of pier shafts that collapse during drilling
operations.

NOTICE OF CHANGE PROPOSAL REQUEST WITH QUOTATION
Description of The Work: To revise foundation drilled bell bottom piers shown on
design documents at 9'-0"below bottom of grade beams to drilled shafts at a depth of
13'-0"below natural grade per revised schedule. We have included casing all piers to a
depth of 13'-0" below natural grade. Please note that the casing will be removed once the
piers are poured. We have included two mobilizations for the drill rig. We have included
minor dewatering of cased piers. With this proposal,we are requesting an additional 37
calendar day contract extension. This price is a guaranteed maximum price for the work
above. We exclude any unknown soil conditions,well pointing, or any unusual soil
failures below the pier bearing area. Please review the attached cost break down&sub
quotation.
