AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND EXXONMOBIL GREEN TEAM SUMMER YOUTH
WORK PROGRAM: AUTHORIZING PAYMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE
HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($100,000.00); AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.

WHEREAS, the Mayor's Summer Youth Work Program was re- created by Council as a pilot program in
April of 2006; and
WHEREAS, through that program in the summer of 2007, the City of Baytown employed 25
Baytown youth between the ages of 16 - 18 for six weeks; and
WHEREAS, in 2008 and 2009, such program was renamed as the Mayor and ExxonMobil Green Team
Summer Youth Work Program (the "Program ") and employed 30 youth each year; and
WHEREAS. it is expected that the Program will be expanded again in 2010 to employ 35 youth between
the ages of 16 - 18 years old who reside in the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District area; and
WHEREAS, the students selected for participation in the Program will begin work on Monday, June 21,
2010, and will be assigned to various departments to perform non- hazardous duties such as picking up litter,
painting. landscaping. typing, filing and other clerical /receptionist duties: and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown believes the Program will be most beneficial to the
youth of the Baytown area as well as to all citizens of the City; NOW THEREFORE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby authorizes the Mayor and
ExxonMobil Green Team Summer Youth Work Program for the summer of 2010.
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown authorizes funds in an amount not to exceed
ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($100,000.00) for the Program authorized in Section 1
hereinabove.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and
