AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.11,061 PASSED ON THE 12TH DAY OF
FEBRUARY,2009,TO EXTEND THE TEMPORARY WAIVER OF PERMIT
FEES FROM JUNE I,2009.TO SEPTEMBER 14,2010.FOR RESIDENTIAL
STRUCTURES THAT WERE DAMAGED BY HURRICANE IKE AND
HOMESTEADED FOR TAX PURPOSES AT ALL TIMES ON AND AFTER
SEPTEMBER 13,2008;AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS,Hurricane Ike caused widespread,severe damage and loss of properly within the
City of Baytown due to its high winds and tidal surges and other public calamity resulting therefrom;and
WHEREAS,in efforts to combat the severe economic and social disruption caused by Hurricane
Ike,the City Councilof the City of Baytown waived certain permit fees until June 1,2009:and
WHEREAS,the City Council finds thai continuing the limited wavier of permit feesas specified
in Ordinance I 1,061 for residential structures will accomplish a public purpose,including,butnot limited
to,ensuring that permit fees arenotadeterrent for the proper repair of residential structures,encouraging
more rapid recovery efforts,and protecting the health,safely and weifare of the citizens of Baytown;
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,TEXAS:
Section 1:That all matters and facts set forth in the recitals hereinabove are found to be true
and such recitals are hereby approved and made a pait of this Ordinance for all purposes and are adopied
as a part of the judgment and findings by the Cily Councilof the Cily of Baylown,Texas.
Section 2:That the temporarywaiver of building permit fees addressed in Ordinance No.
I 1.061,passed by the City Council on the [2th day of February,2009,for structures that were damaged
byHurricane Ike is hereby extendedfrom June 1,2009,to September 14,2010,only for residential
structures that were damaged by Hurricane Ike and honiesteadcd for tax purposes at all times on and after
September 13,2008.
Section 3:Thisordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the
City Councilof the City of Baytown.
