TEXAS, AUTI- IORIZING THE MAYOR AND EXXONMOBFL GREEN TEAM SUMMER YOUTH WORK PROGRAM: AUTI TORIZING PAYMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($100,000.00): AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. * ** * : * ** *: « **** ** ** * ** * « «« * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *** WHEREAS_ the Mayor's Summer Youth Work Program was re- created by Council as a pilot program in April of 2006; and WHEREAS. through that program in the summer of 2007. the City of Baytown employed 25 Baytown youth between the ages of 16 - 18 for six weeks:. and WIiEREAS, in 2008, such program was renamed as the Mayor and E�XonMcbil Green Tearn Surnmer Youth Work Program (the '`Program') and expanded to ernploy 30 youth; and WHEREAS. it is expected that the Program will be expanded again in 2009 to employ 37 youth bet%veen the ages of 16 - 18 years old who reside in the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District area; and WHEREAS, the students selected for participation in the Program will begin work on Monday_ June 22, 2009, and will be assigned to various departments to perform non- hazardous duties such as picking up litter. painting, landscaping, typing, filing and other clericaUreceptionist duties; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown believes the Program will be most beneficial to the youth of the Baytown area as well as to all citizens of the City; NOW T1 IEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THL CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN_ TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby authorizes the Mayor and Exxon Mobil Green Tearn Summer Youth Work Program for the summer of 2009. Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Baytown authorizes funds in an amount not to exceed ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($100,000.00) for the Program authorized in Section 1 hcreinabove. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect inirnediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown. INTRODUCED.
