AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CREATION AND TAX
ELECTION OF THE BAYTOWN CR.IME CONTROL AND PREVENTION
DISTRICT HELD ON MAY 13, 2006; ADOPTING A ONE-EIGHTH OF ONE
PERCENT SALES AND USE TAX FOR FINANCING THE OPERATION OF
THE BAYTOWN CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT WITHIN
THE TERRITORY OF THE DISTRICT; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, on January 26,2006. the City Council of the City of Baytown via Resolution
No. 1766 proposed the creation of the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District (the
"District") and established the city limits of the City of Baytown and as amended, as the boundaries
of the District (the "Territory"): and
WHEREAS. after all of the prerequisites to ordering the creation and tax election were
satisfied by the City Council of the City of Baytown and the Temporary Board of the District, a
creation and tax election was ordered on March 9,2006:
WHEREAS, on May 13, 2006, a uniform election date, voters within the Territory voted
upon the following proposition:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
The creation of the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District dedicated to crime
reduction programs and the adoption of a proposed local sales and use tax at a rate of one-
eighth of one percent (1 18%): and
WHEREAS, on May 22,2006, the Temporary Board of the District canvassed the results of
the creation and tax election and found the votes cast were as follows:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
The creation of the Baytown Crime Control and Prevention District dedicated to crime
reduction programs and the adoption of a proposed local sales and use tax at a rate of one-
eighth of one percent (118%).

Against 651 votes
WHEREAS, because the votes cast for the creation of the District exceeded the votes cast
against the same by 934 votes. the Temporary Board of the District issued an order declaring the
District created on May 22, 2006; and
