ORDINANCE NO. 8226
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
® AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF NINETY -
FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY -FIVE AND NO/] 00 DOLLARS ($94,525.00)
FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND AUTHORIZING THE MATCHING FUNDS
OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN IN THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED THREE
AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($10,503.00) AS RECOMMENDED BY THE LOCAL LAW
ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT ADVISORY BOARD; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, in Resolution No. 1336, adopted November 25,
1997, did authorize the City Manager to accept Local Law Enforcement Block Grant No. 97LBVX3198 in the amount
of NINETY -FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY FIVE AND NO/] 00 DOLLARS ($94,525.00) from
the United States Department of Justice for the reduction of crime and improvement of public safety; and
WHEREAS, the City Counci I of the City of Baytown, Texas, in Resolution No. 1336, adopted November 25,
1997, also authorized the matching funds of the City of Baytown in the amount of TEN THOUSAND FIVE
HUNDRED THREE AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($10,503.00); and
WHEREAS, the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Advisory Board (the "Board "), appointed pursuant to
Resolution No. 1336, held a public hearing on February 16, 1998, in accordance with the guidelines established by the
Department of Justice, Bureau of the Justice Assistance for the expenditure of Law Enforcement Block Grant funds;
and
WHEREAS, after the public hearing, the Board considered how the funds could be most appropriately
expended to reduce crime and enhance public safety in the City of Baytown and concluded that the appropriated funds
should be allocated and used as further described in Exhibit "A," which is attached hereto and incorporated herein for
all intents and purposes; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section l: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby accepts the recommendations of the
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Advisory Board for the purchases and expenditures enumerated in Exhibit "A"
in the sum of ONE HUNDRED FIVE THOUSAND TWENTY -EIGHT AND NO/] 00 DOLLARS ($105,028.00) and
authorizes payment thereof.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council
of the City of Baytown.
