ORDINANCE NO. 8070
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS,
AUTHORIZING THE PLACEMENT OF ROAD HUMPS ON ADAMS STREET BETWEEN
THE 1500 BLOCK AND 1900 BLOCK OF ADAMS STREET- REPEALING CONFLICTING
ORDINANCES; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE
EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, residential neighborhoods are adversely impacted by prevalent occurrences of excessive
speed; and
WHEREAS, road humps are effective and appropriate devices for safely reducing vehicle speeds on
certain types of streets; and
WHEREAS, based upon the criteria established by the City Council in the City of Baytown's Road
Hump Installation Policy and Guidelines, the Growth Management and Development Advisory Commission
recommends the installation of road humps at the locations referenced hereinbelow; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby authorizes the placement of
road humps on Adams Street between the 1500 block and 1900 block of Adams Street.
Section 2: The Director of Public Works is authorized and directed to place the proper signs and
markings at the above- described location.
Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are
hereby repealed; provided, however, that such repeal shall be only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all
other respects this ordinance shall be cumulative of other ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter
covered by this ordinance.
Section 4: If any provision, section, subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or the application of same to any person or set of circumstances, shall for any reason be held
unconstitutional, void or invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of this
ordinance or their application to other persons or sets of circumstances and to this end all provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
