Ordinance No. 7,923970313',-6 ORDINANCE NO. 7923 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF GRANT FUNDS AND CASH MATCH IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF NINETY -EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SIXTY -THREE AND NO 1100 DOLLARS ($98,363.00) FROM THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE ADVISORY BOARD; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, in Ordinance 7861, adopted December 125 1996, did authorize the City Manager to accept Local Law Enforcement Block Grant No. 96LBVXI095 in the amount of EIGHTY -EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY -SEVEN and NO 1100 DOLLARS ($88,527.00) from the United States Department of Justice for reduction of crime and improvement of public safety, and said ordinance did authorize the City's match in the amount of NINE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED THIRTY -SIX AND NO /100 DOLLARS ($9,836.00); and WHEREAS, the advisory board appointed pursuant to ordinance 7861 held a public hearing on February 17, 1997, and has made recommendations for the expenditure of the funds; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown hereby accepts the recommendations of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Advisory Board for the purchase of a speed alert trailer, protective gear, a cellular phone, a forensic light source, equipment for a reserve force, and overtime for various purposes for the sum of NINETY -EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED SIXTY -THREE and NO/] 00 DOLLARS ($98,363.00) DOLLARS and authorizes payment thereof. Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
