Ordinance No. 6,954940324 -1 ORDINANCE NO. 6954 . AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, RENAMING A SEGMENT OF "SOUTH MAIN STREET EXTENSION" TO M. L. WISMER DRIVE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, M. L. Wismer was a lifelong resident of Baytown and a strong supporter of the youth of the community; and WHEREAS, M. L. Wismer sponsored Baytown events such as the July 4th Heat Wave Run and the Annual Fishing Tournament; and WHEREAS, M. L. Wismer was an honorary lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and held the record for the purchase price of the Grand Champion Lamb for ten years; and WHEREAS, M. L. Wismer was well known for his generosity in helping those in need while anonymously contributing thousands of dollars to Baytown agencies; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That a segment of "South Main Street Extension" is hereby changed to and shall henceforth be known as M. L. Wismer Drive. Section 2: The Director of Public Works is authorized and directed to place street markers showing the correct name of M. L. Wismer Drive. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
