Ordinance No. 6,788930923 -15 ORDINANCE NO. 6788 • AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CLOSURE OF BROWNWOOD DRIVE IN BROWNWOOD SUBDIVISION TO THROUGH TRAFFIC; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has purchased a substantial majority of the Brownwood Subdivision inundated by Hurricane Alicia in 1983; and WHEREAS, this area having been abandoned for residential use, has always suffered from the illegal dumping of all manner of refuse; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown desires to develop a natural open space park which will provide a variety of recreational opportunities and encourage the return of native varieties of wildlife and vegetation; and WHEREAS, the City of Baytown desires to control the traffic flow into this area without denying any property owner access to his property; and WHEREAS, no interest of the public requires that Brownwood Drive be kept open to through traffic; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Baytown, that Brownwood Drive be closed to through traffic; NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: The City of Baytown finds that Brownwood Drive is closed to through traffic by the same authority with which the City creates, dedicates, opens and maintains all public streets. Section 2: The City of Baytown finds that the closure of Brownwood Drive to through traffic is necessary to promote and preserve the public health and safety. Section 3: The City of Baytown finds that the closure of Brownwood Drive to through traffic is necessary to control and regulate traffic. Section 4: The City of Baytown hereby closes Brownwood Drive to through traffic.
