• AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, CLOSING THAT PORTION OF CROW ROAD IN BROWNWOOD
SUBDIVISION ALONG WHICH THE CITY OF BAYTOWN OWNS ALL OF
THE PROPERTY; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has purchased a substantial
majority of the Brownwood Subdivision inundated by Hurricane
Alicia in 1983; and
WHEREAS, this area having been abandoned for residential
use, has always suffered from the illegal dumping of all manner
of refuse; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown desires to develop a natural
open space park which will provide a variety of recreational
opportunities and encourage the return of native varieties of
wildlife and vegetation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has purchased all of the
contiguous property in the area of this proposed street closure;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown desires to control the traffic
flow into this area without denying any property owner access to
his property; and
WHEREAS, no interest of the public requires that said
portion of said street be improved or kept open; and
WHEREAS, the interest of the public will be benefited by the
termination of any obligation on the part of the City of Baytown
to maintain said portion of said street as a public right -of -way;
and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Baytown,
that the above - described portion of said street be closed; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: The City of Baytown finds that this street is
closed by the same authority with which the City creates,
dedicates, opens and maintains all public streets.
Section 2: The City of Baytown finds that the closure of
this street is necessary to promote and preserve the public
health and safety.
• Section 3: The City of Baytown finds that the closure of
this street is necessary to control and regulate traffic.

Section 4: The City of Baytown hereby closes that portion
of Crow Road along which the City owns all of the property.
Section 5: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 22nd day of
October, 1992.
