Ordinance No. 6,096ORDINANCE NO. 6096 911212 -8 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS, AUTHORIZING PAYMENT UP TO THE SUM OF THREE THOUSAND AND N01100 ($3,000.00) DOLLARS TO GIFFORD -HILL, INC. FOR WELDING SERVICES ON THE SANITARY SEWER FORCE MAIN AT THE WOODLAWN LIFT STATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, a 16" sanitary sewer force main that serves the Woodlawn lift station has failed in the area of the drainage ditch located at the intersection of Kilgore Road and James Street; and WHEREAS, TEX. L. GOV'T. CODE ANN. § 252.022, provides that in case of procurements for the protection of public health or safety, the requirement for competitive bids is not applicable; and WHEREAS, informal bids for welding services on the sanitary sewer force main at the Woodlawn lift station have been obtained, and Gifford -Hill, Inc., is the low bid; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby declares that an emergency situation exists. Section 2: That payment to Gifford -Hill, Inc. up to of the sum of THREE THOUSAND AND N01100 ($3,000.00) DOLLARS for welding services on the sanitary sewer force main at the Woodlawn lift station is hereby authorized. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
