Ordinance No. 5,859ORDINANCE N0. 5859 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS, AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY AND N01100 ($5,840.00) DOLLARS TO R.A. BLACKWELL FOR AN AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. WHEREAS, the air conditioning compressor at Sterling Municipal Library has suffered unforeseen damage; and WHEREAS, TEX. L.GOV'T.CODE ANN. 5 2.52.022, provides that in case of unforeseen damage to public machinery, equipment, or other property, the requirement for competitive bids is not applicable; and WHEREAS, informal bids for an air conditioning compressor have been obtained, and R.A. Blackwell, is the low bid; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby declares that an emergency situation exists. Section 2: That payment to R.A. Blackwell of the sum of FIVE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FORTY AND NO 1100 ($5,840.00) DOLLARS for an air conditioning compressor is hereby authorized. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
