ORDINANCE NO. 5117
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 27 -73, OF CHAPTER 27,
"SUBDIVISIONS," OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY ADDING
SUBSECTION (a) (4) (d ) AND SUBSECTIONS (b) (1) (a -h) ;
PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SAVINGS
CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances, City of Baytown,
Texas, is hereby amended by adding a subsection, to be numbered
27- 73(a)(4)(d), which said section reads as follows:
Sec. 27- 73(a)(4) Force mains.
d. Polyethylene (PE) Plastic Pipe (SDR -PR)
Based on outside diameter conforming to the
latest revision of ASTM F714.
Section 2: That Section 27- 73(b)(1) of the Code of
Ordinances, City of Baytown, Texas, is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Sec. 27- 73(b)(1) Materials. All pipe and fittings
shall be approved by the American Water Works
Association for carrying potable water. Water lines
shall be constructed of the following materials:
a. Prestressed Concrete Pressure Pipe, Steel -
Cylinder Type conforming to AWWA C -301.
b. Reinforced Concrete Pressure Pipe, Steel -
Cylinder Type conforming to AWWA C -300.
c. Reinforced Concrete Pressure Pipe, Steel -
Cylinder Type, Pretensioned conforming to
AWWA C -303.
d. Steel Water Pipe conforming to AWWA CD -200
with protective coating approved by City
Engineer.
e. Ductile -Iron Pipe conforming to AWWA C -151
Class 50 with protective cement - mortar
lining conforming to AWWA C -104.
® f. Cast -Iron Pipe conforming to AWWA C -101 with
is protective cement - mortar lining conforming
to AWWA C -104.

h. Cast iron fittings shall conform to the
latest revision of ASA A -21.10 and ASA
A- 21.11.
Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent with the terms of this ordinance are hereby
repealed; provided however, that such repeal shall be only to the
extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects this
ordinance shall be cumulative of other ordinances regulating and
governing the subject matter covered by this ordinance.
Section 4: If any provisions, section, exception,
subsection, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance or the application of same to any person or set of
circumstances, shall for any reason be held unconstitutional,
void or invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the validity of
the remaining provisions of this ordinance or their application
to other persons or sets of circumstances and to this end all
provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 5: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 13th day of
