ORDINANCE NO. 5028
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN
AUTHORIZING CHANGE ORDER NO. 16 TO THE CONTRACT WITH
BASIC CONSTRUCTORS FOR THE CENTRAL DISTRICT EPA GRANT
PROJECT (CONTRACT NO. 1).
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Council does hereby authorize
Change Order No. 16 to the Contract with Basic Constructors for
the Central District EPA Grant Project (Contract No. 1). A copy
of said change order .s attached hereto, marked Exhibit "A," and
made a part hereof for all intents and purposes.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, this the 9th day of June,
1988.

ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $5,378,600.00
Dear Mayor and City Council:
Your approval is requested on the following modifications and /or
changes to subject project. These added costs will be applied to
the above Contract.
Description
1. Replacement of severely deteriorated air drops/
diffusers in Chlorine Contact Chamber Mixing
Basins No. 1 and No. 2. The existing air drops/
diffusers were installed in 1973. When these two
basins were dewatered for construction of adjoin-
ing improvements it was found that the air piping
system had numerous holes due to corrosion, dif-
fusers were either missing or broken and that
there were no salvageable, usable components.
The work to be performed is shown on the attached
sheet 1 of 1 entitled "Chlorine Chamber Air Dif-
fusion Modification" dated May 24, 1988. The
following services and /or materials are being
® provided by the City; 1) removal of existing air
diffusion system to the flange immediately out-
side the face of the wye -wall, 2) forty -eight

Description
® each 1" O.D. 16 ga., 304 S.S. tubing by 13' -6"
long threaded on each end, 3) forty -eight new MS
diffusers with 3/4" PVC bushing and 4) forty -
eight each new 1" brass orifice union tees with
3/4" PVC bushing in lower run of tee. Contractor
to assemble air drop components (air leak tight)
install same and perform all work as shown on the
before referenced drawing. City furnished mate-
rials will be on the job site, ready for assembly
by no later than June 6, 1988. Contractor's
warranty does not apply to the above listed City
furnished materials; only Contractors workmanship
warranty applies.
