® ORDINANCE NO. 4807
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY.OF BAYTOWN TO IMPOSE
® AND COLLECT A ONE PERCENT (1 %) GROSS RECEIPTS TAX ON
THE CONDUCT OF BINGO GAMES WITHIN THE CITY....OF BAYTOWN;
AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown-is located within a justice
precinct in which voters have elected to legalize bingo, and the
City of Baytown has not voted to prohibit bingo; and
WHEREAS., the Bingo Enabling Act, Tex. Rev. Civ. Stat. art.
179d, authorizes the City of Baytown to authorize a one percent
(1 %) gross receipts tax in such circumstances.; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN:
Section 1: That the City of Baytown is hereby authorized
and directed to impose and collect a one percent (1 %) gross
receipts tax on the conduct of bingo games within the City of
Baytown.
® Section 2: The City Clerk is hereby directed to send
certified copies of this ordinance to Harris County, the State
Comptroller, and such other persons or entities as may be
necessary to enact the collection of this gross receipts tax.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of
Baytown.

September, 1987.
