Ordinance No. 4,57561113 -3 ORDINANCE NO. 4575 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS, AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF THE SUM OF FOURTEEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHT AND 391100 ($14,108.39) DOLLARS TO DIXIE, U.S.A. FOR EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR EMERGENCY AMBULANCES; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, the current emergency ambulance service provider for the City has indicated it will not continue service beyond November 15, 1986; and WHEREAS, the City has previously acquired ambulances, but the equipment and supplies for those vehicles are needed for the City to commence emergency ambulance service; and WHEREAS, TEX. REV. CIV. STAT., art. 2368a provides that in case of purchases necessary to protect or preserve the public health of the citizens of the City, the requirement for competitive bids is not applicable; and WHEREAS, informal bids for the purchase of this equipment and supplies have been solicited, and Dixie, U.S.A. is the low estimate; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas hereby declares that an emergency situation exists. Section 2: That payment to Dixie, U.S.A. of a maximum of FOURTEEN THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED EIGHT AND 39/100 ($14,108.39) DOLLARS as payment for the above described purchase of the equipment and supplies for city emergency ambulances is hereby authorized. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
