Ordinance No. 4,44260428 -2 ORDINANCE NO. 4442 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS, DECLARING THAT AN EMERGENCY SITUATION EXISTS; AWARDING THE BID FOR TEMPORARY EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE TO MEDIC -1 AMBULANCE SERVICE; AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT BY THE CITY OF THIRTY -THREE THOUSAND AND NO /100 ($33,000.00) DOLLARS. WHEREAS, the current Emergency Ambulance Service Contract between the City of Baytown and Navarre's Ambulance Service expires on April 30, 1986; and WHEREAS, there has been a study of a new Emergency Ambulance Service Contract which is continuing and is being revised, but the new contract will not be ready for bidding prior to April 30, 1986; and WHEREAS, without a contract, the City of Baytown will not be able to assure the providing of emergency ambulance service; and WHEREAS, when it is necessary to preserve and protect the public health and safety of the citizens of the City of Baytown, the requirements for competitive bidding may be waived; and WHEREAS, considering the above, the City Council of the City of Baytown, deems that an emergency situation exists; and WHEREAS, the Purchasing Department has taken informal bids for a temporary contract; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, TEXAS: Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Baytown, Texas, hereby declares that an emergency situation exists. Section 2: That Medic -1 Ambulance Service is awarded the bid for temporary emergency ambulance service to be provided in accordance with the specifications attached hereto, and payment of THIRTY -THREE THOUSAND AND NO /100 ($33,000.00) DOLLARS is authorized for this service. Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
