ORDINANCE NO. 4210
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE AN
OFFER FOR AND IN BEHALF OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN, FOR
EIGHTY THOUSAND AND NO /100 {$80,0011.00} DOLLARS TO THE U.S.
POSTAL SERVICE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN INTERESTS IN
A TRACT DESCRIBED HEREIN REQUIRED FOR A PUBLIC PURPOSE;
PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service has determined that the Post
Office and Federal building more fully described in Exhibit "A," is excess to the
needs of the U. S. Postal Service and available for disposal; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baytown has an increasing need for office space; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Heritage Society has expressed a desire to occupy a
portion of the structure; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the City Manager be, and he is hereby authorized and
directed to make an offer of EIGHTY THOUSAND AND NO /100 ($80,000.00)
DOLLARS for the said tract above described, to the U. S. Postal Service, owner of
said property, for the purchase and acquisition by the City of Baytown for use as
additional office space and for use by the Bay Area Heritage Society.
Section 2: Should such offer be accepted, the money above set forth shall be
paid out of any appropriation heretofore made for the public purpose for which the
above described tract is required.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ, and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City
Council of the City of Baytown, this the 25th day of July, 1985.
