AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, TEXAS, DESIGNATING A PORTION OF WEST DEFEE
AVENUE AS A NO PARKING ZONE; DESIGNATING A PORTION
OF WEST DEFEE AVENUE AS A 15 MINUTE PARKING LIMIT
ZONE; REPEALING ORDINANCES INCONSISTENT HEREWITH;
PRESCRIBING A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF TWO HUNDRED AND
NO /100 ($200.00) DOLLARS FOR EACH VIOLATION; AND
PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE
HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL. OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described portion of West Defee Avenue is hereby
declared to be a no parking zone, to -wit:
West Defee Avenue: Northside for a distance of
100 feet East of its intersection with North
Gaillard Street.
Section 2: That the following described portion of West Defee Avenue is hereby
declared to be a 15 minute parking limit zone, to -wit:
West Defee Avenue: Northside from a point 100
feet east of its intersection with North Gaillard
Street to its intersection with North Ashbel Street.
Section 3: That the following described portion of West Defee Avenue is hereby
declared to be a 15 minute parking limit zone between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and
6:00 p.m. to -wit:
West Defee Avenue: Southside for a distance of
120 feet east of its intersection with North
Gaillard Street.
Section 4: The Director of Planning and Traffic is authorized and directed to
cause the proper signs to be posted at the above described location.
Section 5: It shall be unlawful for a driver of a vehicle to disobey the
instructions of the signs placed in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance,
unless at the time otherwise directed by a police officer.

Section 6: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the terms
of this ordinance are hereby repealed, provided however, that such repeal shall be
only to the extent of such inconsistency and in all other respects this ordinance
shall be cumulative of other ordinances regulating and governing the subject matter
covered by this ordinance.
Section 7: Any offense under this chapter for which another penalty is not
provided is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than One ($1.00) Dollar
nor more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, except that minors who have passed
their fourteenth birthday but have not reached their seventeenth birthday shall be
punished by a fine of not more than One Hundred and NO /100 ($100.00) Dollars and
each violation shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 8: This ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10) days after
its passage by the City Council. The City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice
hereof by causing the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official
newspaper of the City of Baytown at least twice within ten (10) days after the
passage of this ordinance.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the City Council of the
City of Baytown on this the 14th day of April, 1983.
