ORDINANCE NO. 3516
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, PROVIDING THAT A PORTION OF NORTH SECOND
STREET BE VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING
FOR THE QUITCLAIMING OF THE CITY'S INTEREST
IN SAID LAND; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
HEREOF.
WHEREAS, North Second Street is a dedicated public street;
and
WHEREAS, Jerry and Janet Sparks are the abutting land owners
to a portion of North Second Street and have made application
that said portion be discontinued, closed, and abandoned as a
public street; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: The property to be abandoned is described as
follows:
BEGINNING at the Southwest corner of lot 12, Block 82 of
Goose Creek Townsite; a subdivision in the City of Baytown,
Harris County, Texas, as the point of beginning;
THENCE, in a northerly direction running along the western-
most boundary line of said lot 12 a distance of approxi-
mately 75 feet to a point on the north edge of a concrete
patio;
THENCE, in a westerly direction approximately 5 feet to a
point being the northwest corner of said concrete patio;
THENCE, in a southerly direction running parallel to the
westernmost boundary line of said Lot 12, also being along
a chain link fence, for a distance of approximately 75 feet,
ending at a point at the southwest corner of the chain link
fence;
THENCE, in an easterly direction along the said chain link
fence for a distance of approximately 5 feet to the Point of
Beginning and enclosing the tract herein conveyed.
A map of such property to be abandoned is attached hereto
and marked Exhibit "A"
Section 2: That the portion of North Second Street as
described above is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently
vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or
character whatever.

Section 3: That the interest or interests of the City
and /or public in the above described portion of said street (and
as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto) is hereby quitclaimed to
the adjacent owners for and in consideration of Three Hundred and
Fifty and No /100 ($350.00) Dollars.
Section 4: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute such instruments, if any, necessary for
such abandonment and sale.
Section 5: That this Ordinance is to become effective from
and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council of the City of Baytown, on this the 22nd day of
November , 1982.
