ORDINANCE NO. 3496
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN, PROVIDING THAT A PORTION OF SOUTH FIRST
STREET BE VACATED, ABANDONED AND CLOSED; PROVIDING
FOR THE QUITCLAIMING OF PART OF THE CITY'S INTEREST
IN SAID LAND; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE
HEREOF.
and
WHEREAS, South First Street is a dedicated public street;
WHEREAS, Wismer Distributing Company is the abutting land
owner to that portion of South First Street and has made
application that same be discontinued, closed, and abandoned as a
public street; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAYTOWN,
TEXAS:
Section 1: The property to be abandoned is described as
follows:
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of Lot 13 of
Block, 19 of the George Wright Subdivision as
shown on the tax maps of the City of Baytown
being the point of beginning herein.
THENCE in a Southerly direction running along
the westernmost boundary line of Lot 13 a
distance of 150 feet to a point where South
First Street deadends;
THENCE in a Westerly direction running along
the southernmost end of South First Street a
distance of 50 feet to a point for corner in
the Eastern boundary line of a tract owned by
Missouri Pacific Railroad.
THENCE along said boundary line a distance of
150 feet to a point for corner being the
Southwest corner of the intersection of East
Republic and South First Street.
THENCE in an Easterly direction along the
South right -of -way line of East Republic a
distance of 50 feet to Point of Beginning.
Enclosing the Tract herein conveyed.
A map of such abandonment is attached hereto
and marked Exhibit "A ".
Section 2: That that portion of South First Street as
described above is hereby closed, abandoned and permanently
vacated as a street or public thoroughfare of any kind or
character whatever.

Section 3: That the interest or interests of the City
and /or public in the above described portion of said street (and
as shown in Exhibit "A" attached hereto) is hereby quitclaimed to
the adjacent owners for and in consideration of Seven Thousand
Five Hundred & No /100 ($7,500.00) Dollars.
Section 4: That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute such instruments,if any, necessary for such
abandonment.
Section 5: That this Ordinance is to become effective from
and after its passage by the City Council of the City of Baytown.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of the
City Council on this the 14th day of October 1982.
