ORDINANCE NO. 3279
All ORDINANCE RESTRICTING THE USE OF CITY PROPERTY
ADJOINING STERLING MUNICIPAL LIBRARY TO LIBRARY RELATED
PURPOSES; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, an initiative petition concerning the use of
library property was presented to City Council as provided
in Section 97 of the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk certified the petition as
valid, and a public hearing was held, all as required by the
City Charter; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baytown has
determined that it should adopt an or- Jinance in substantial
accordance with the ordinance proposed by the initiative
position; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAYTOWN:
Section l: That any and all land now owned by the City
of Baytown, which land comprises all or part of any plot or
parcel adjoining the Sterling Municipal Library of the City
of Baytown, Texas, or which does not adjoin the said library
solely because of an intervening adjacent easement, roadway
or other public thoroughfare, shall henceforth be dedicated
to and for purposes related to the enhancement of, expansion
of or beautification of the said library, and such land may
not be disposed of or utilized for any purpose other than
the above mentioned purposes for so long as the Sterling
Municipal Library shall occupy its present site.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately
from and after its passage by the City Council.
INTRODUCED, READ and PASSED by the affirmative vote of
the City Council of the City of Baytown on this the 10th
day of December 9 1981.
